The Aria Pearl filter from Simmod is an industry-standard softening filter for 4x5.65 matte boxes.
Responding to the demands of cinematographers, Simmod Aria Pearl filters aid cinematographers in taking the edge off the image from modern digital lenses and cameras, especially cameras with large sensor acquisition capabilities. SIMply put, Aria Pearl filters are used to create a pearlescent halo around highlights while gently softening the overall image with a smooth, velvety glow.
Designed by award-winning DP Ron Sim csc, Aria Pearl filters are available in 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 density.
Aria Pearl Filters are constructed from 2 layers of the highest quality Schott glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then laminating each substrate. Each layer of glass is nano-coated on each side to provide anti-reflective properties and repel water, grease, and oil.
