Simmod UV IR Cut Filter (82mm)
$99.00
The Simmod UV IR Cut Filter (82mm) is a multi-coated optical filter designed to block ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths while allowing visible-spectrum light to pass through with minimal color shift.
Filter Format
- Rear thread size: 82mm
- Front thread size: 82mm
- Circular screw-in filter design
The front threading allows additional filters or accessories to be mounted when required.
Optical Function
The filter is designed to:
- Block ultraviolet light below approximately 380nm
- Block infrared wavelengths above approximately 700nm
- Reduce infrared contamination on digital sensors
- Minimize color shifting when using ND filters
- Reduce unwanted blue cast in high-UV environments
The filter is intended for use in:
- Digital cinematography
- Digital still photography
- ND filter workflows
- High-intensity daylight environments
Optical Construction
- Schott optical glass construction
- Multi-resistant nano coating system
- 28-layer coating structure:
- 14 layers per side
The coating system is designed to:
- Reduce reflections and ghosting
- Improve light transmission consistency
- Resist oil, water, and dust contamination
- Improve scratch resistance
Mechanical Construction
- Precision-machined brass filter ring
- Slim-profile frame design
- Matte black internal finish
The brass frame is designed to:
- Reduce thread binding
- Maintain dimensional stability
- Improve durability during repeated installation and removal
The slim ring profile is intended to minimize vignetting when used on wider-angle lenses.
Mechanical Performance
- Screw-in threaded mounting system
- Maintains stable alignment during operation
- Front threading supports stacked filter configurations
The filter is designed for use in both photographic and cinema workflows.
Image Characteristics
The filter is designed to:
- Maintain visible-spectrum color accuracy
- Reduce infrared-induced magenta contamination
- Improve black neutrality when using ND filtration
- Minimize ultraviolet haze and color contamination
The effect intensity varies depending on:
- Sensor sensitivity
- Lighting conditions
- ND filter density
- Lens coatings and flare behavior
System Behavior
- Passive optical filter
- No electronic components
- Does not alter lens mechanics or optical calibration
Compatible with:
- Spherical lenses
- Anamorphic lenses
- Matte box workflows using threaded adapters
Notes
- Requires compatible 82mm front filter threads or step rings
- Particularly useful when combining with heavier ND filtration
- Filter stacking may increase the possibility of vignetting depending on lens focal length
